How to survive in.... - Friday, February 6th

The report about your country must include:

1. Introduction
  • Complete name of the country
  • Area
  • Population
  • Capital
  • Main language
  • Currency

2. General overview of dangers and annoyances

3. Conclusions: personal opinion

To conduct a decent research it is always a must to use more than one source. Please check out the ones listed below and add any others you might consider relevant. DO NOT copy-paste and DO NOT forget to include the bibliography. WRITE no less than ONE PAGE and no more than TWO PAGES (double-spaced)

Choose your destination and then go to "Practical Information" to the "Health and Safety" section, where you will find information regarding issues such as crime, drugs, scams, necessary vaccination for specific disseases, traveling as a woman or with children, etc.

This is a website published by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom. A very complete and comprehensive site which also includes info on natural disasters among other things. Please note that countries are classified by colour to indicate the countries that are not recommended to travel to.

Of course, USA has its own site for the same purpose. Mexico has a travel alert issued on October 2008 related to violence and they also say our highways are unsafe. Do you think they are right?

If you choose a destination here you will find at the bottom of the page a link called "Warnings or Dangers". Unfortunately, these tips are written by the users of the website and might be not so realistic.
